Welcome to Ashbrooke Cosmetic Clinic
Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to change the size, shape, and contour of breasts. Generally, this is done using implants (either silicone or saline) that are placed inside the breast. However, at Ashbrooke Cosmetic Surgery, the approach used here is fat transfer, where fat is removed from one area of the body (such as the abdomen or thighs) through liposuction, and then injected into the breasts.
This procedure may be chosen for cosmetic reasons, such as improving proportion, symmetry, restoring lost volume, or for reconstructive purposes following injury or mastectomy.
Breast augmentation can be performed in two main ways:

At Ashbrooke Cosmetic Surgery, we only provide the Fat Transfer to Breast procedure, and do not provide breast implant services.
The Breast Augmentation procedure generally includes the following steps:
Your experience begins with a detailed consultation with our qualified doctors. During this appointment, we assess your areas of concern, review your medical history, and determine whether a breast augmentation is an appropriate option for your needs. We’ll explain the procedure in full, discuss expected outcomes, risks, and develop a tailored treatment plan based on your individual goals and anatomy.
After your procedure, we provide ongoing support through scheduled follow-up appointments. During these visits, we monitor your healing progress and ensure post-treatment instructions are being followed. Recovery times may vary, and we’re here to address any questions or concerns throughout the process. Our goal is to ensure a smooth recovery and support you through every stage of care.
Breast augmentation procedures offer advantages, such as:

Through fat transfer for subtle change and help with symmetry.

Taking the fat from the donor area (such as the abdomen) and inserting into the breasts for a change in volume and shape.

Restoration of breast shape and symmetry after mastectomy or trauma.
The above results may vary among patients.
Breast augmentation is generally safe, however, understanding potential risks allows you to make an informed decision:

These are common post-surgery and may persist for several weeks in some individuals.

Mild to moderate pain or tenderness is expected post procedure and can usually be managed with pain relief medication.

Though uncommon, any surgical procedure carries the risk for infection at incision sites if sterile protocols are not strictly followed.

Implants an fat transfer may complicate mammograms, requiring specialised imaging techniques.

Temporary or permanent numbness in nipples or breast tissue.
Using a qualified health practitioner can help minimise these risks, which may vary between patients.
You are a suitable candidate for Breast Augmentation If you identify with the following factors:

Are in good overall health and not pregnant or breastfeeding.

Have fully developed breasts.

You are seeking an increase in breast size, fullness, or symmetry.

You are a non-smoker or are willing to quit, as smoking delays healing.

Have adequate fat stores (for fat transfer).

Have realistic expectations about the type of results achievable.
Our head doctor will carefully assess your goals, anatomy, and lifestyle during the 1-on-1 consultation before moving forward with the procedure.

Breast Augmentation requires a structured consultation process to ensure patient safety and informed decision-making. Here is what you can expect from the consultation process:

A minimum of two consultations is required before surgery. The first should be in person with the doctor performing the procedure, while the second may be in person or via telehealth.

A full review of your medical history and breast examination.

Discussion of your goals, risks, expectations, benefits, recovery timeline, and long-term maintenance.

Cost breakdown, including all associated fees.

A cooling-off period of at least seven days must follow the second consultation before surgery can be booked or any deposit paid. Consent forms can only be signed after the second consultation.

All patients must complete a Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) screening questionnaire. If results suggest possible BDD, referral to a qualified psychologist or psychiatrist is required before proceeding.

Any patient under the age of 18 must be referred to a psychiatrist or psychologist before they can be assessed by a cosmetic doctor.
All procedures are performed in line with current Australian health and safety regulations.

As the method uses your own fat, the size increase tends to be more subtle. Typically one can expect an increase of about ½ to 1 cup size per session. In some cases, with enough donor fat and multiple sessions would be needed for larger increases.
The fat cells that successfully survive the transfer are permanent. However, some of the fat is reabsorbed in the body. Final settled results typically take a few months (usually around 3 months) as swelling subsides. Over time, changes in weight, ageing or hormonal changes can alter the appearance.
Very small incisions are needed for liposuction, typically on donor sites. Injection into the breast is done via fine cannulas, so scars are minimal and gradually fade over time.
Swelling and bruising are expected in both donor and breast areas for a few weeks. Discomfort tends to be mild to moderate, although pain relief medication will be provided. Return to light activity often possible after about 1 week, and full return to normal or strenuous activity may take 4-6 weeks.
